Arua Gets New Kadhi

Shortly after breaking the news of Sheikh Jaffers appointment, Sheik Hatim Juma, the Chairman Arua Muslim District Council urged Muslims to embrace his appointment.
Sheikh Abu Jaffer is new Kadhi Arua Muslim District Council. Sheik Hatim Juma, the Chairman Arua Muslim District broke the news of Jaffer's appointment on Tuesday night.

He explained that Jaffer emerged the best candidate defeating two others following a month long vetting exercise at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC at Old Kampala. 

Sheikh Abu Jaffer, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Law, will take over from Sheik Juma Vuni who has been serving in acting capacity.

The seat of Arua District Khadi fell vacant after Sheikh Amin Maga who served for over 30 years was impeached by the College of Sheikhs three months ago for allegedly mismanaging Muslim resources in the district.

He was replaced by Sheikh Juma Vuni in acting capacity to pave way for the process to appoint a substantive Kadhi. 

Shortly after breaking the news of Sheikh Jaffer's appointment, Sheik Hatim Juma, the Chairman Arua Muslim District Council urged Muslims to embrace his appointment.

"I want to urge all Muslim in Arua to accept, cooperate and work with the new Kadhi for the good of all Muslims," said Sheik Hatim Juma.

Appointment of Kadhi

According to the UMSC constitution, the College of eminent Sheikhs in the district nominates three names and sends them to the office of the Mufti. 

Upon receiving the names of the nominees, the Mufti sends them to the College of Eminent Sheikhs for vetting at UMSC headquarters.

Once the committee is satisfied with the candidates, its sends back the names to the Mufti from which he selects one candidate for appointment to the office of the Kadhi.
