River Enyau Bridge Worrying

The bridge that crosses over River Enyau along Pajulu road is eroded on both sides exposing motorists to danger.

The bridge connecting Arua town to Pajulu Sub County and the Democratic Republic of Congo-DR Congo is a disaster waiting to happen.

The bridge that crosses over River Enyau along Pajulu road is eroded on both sides exposing motorists to danger.  

The bridge was last repaired four years ago. Pajulu road leads to Leaf Tobacco Company LTC regional buying center and is a major route for trailers, mini buses, cyclists and pedestrians.

A warning sign erected by Arua district local government indicating that road is closed because of the broken bridge hasn't stopped motorists from using it.

Hundreds children from Pajulu who attend studies in schools in Arua Municipality and its surrounding areas use the dilapidated bridge on a daily basis.

Some of the residents along Pajulu road told URN that crossing the bridge has become tricky because of its current state.

Some parents told URN that because of the sorry state of the bridge, they are forced to spend money on boda bodas to take their children through Euata or GiliGili road.

William Tiyo, the Acting Arua District Engineer told URN that there are no plans to work on Pajulu-Ajono road and Enyau Bridge this financial year.

Moses Amati, a councilor at Arua district, many public works have been left to the 'dogs', adding that this exposes the lives of several people to risk especially in the rural areas where they have no voice.
