In the past two weeks, two Boda Boda cyclists have been killed and five others injured after being clobbered by unknown people. 21 motorcycles have also been stolen since the beginning of last month.

Attacks on Boda Boda cyclists in Gulu are high. In the past
two weeks, two Boda Boda cyclists have been killed and five others injured.
21 motorcycles have also been stolen since the beginning of last month.
The deceased are Denis Okello and Innocent Kony who were all
attacked and died from injuries while other are nursing injuries from Gulu regional
referral hospital.
According to the Nicholas Otim the Gulu district Boda Boda association
enforcement officer, the robbers target new motorcycles since it`s easier for
them to dispose of.
Otim says the rate of stealing motorcycles this month has increased saying they
used to register an average of 20 cases of stolen motorcycles.

Thomas Oboma Okot the chairperson of Gulu district Boda Boda cyclists
association says, they have instituted a team of night operators from
within the cyclists who collaborate with the police and army to try and track
down the suspected thugs.
Gulu District Police commander Emmanuel Mafundo says they have so far arrested
one suspect believed to be behind the attacks on the cyclists.
He identified the suspect as Juliet Aber. She has reportedly coordinated the robbery of more than twenty motorcycles which are stolen and
sold in Elegu border market, Arua, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of
Congo.
