It is alleged that Andrew Ayo, who had accused his wife of infidelity, followed her to her parental home in Atakara-Maka-Gwata at around 1am last night and found when she woman had reportedly left home to see another man, prompting him to set her house on fire killing the minor instantly before he fled.
Police
in Kwania district are hunting for a 25 year old man for allegedly burning his son to
death.
The
suspect Andrew Ayo, a resident of Apire-mit
Village in Western ward A Inomo Town Council and who is still at large, is accused
of burning to death his 2 year old son.
In
2018, Ayo eloped Vicky Akao, a resident of Atakara-maka gwata, in Adyeda
parish, Aduku Sub County, however the marriage went sour and the woman recently returned
home with one child.
It is alleged that Andrew Ayo, who had accused his wife of infidelity, followed her to her parental home in Atakara-Maka-Gwata at around 1am last night and found when she woman had reportedly left home to see another man, prompting him to set her house on fire killing the minor instantly before he fled.

Okok, the Atakara-maka-gwata Village LC I Chairperson, says the suspect broke
into the house of Akao in the wee hours of Monday morning, at around 1 am. He
reportedly doused the household items with fuel before torching them. Okok says
the minor identified as Gerald Nam suffocated to death before he was burnt
beyond recognition.
According
to Okok, Ayo who seemed to be improving on their broken relationship, made an
appointment with the latter, however he was disappointed upon reaching her
house last night and to discover that the woman had again left for another man.

“The
house belonging to Vicky Akao was set ablaze, killing her son instantly. I
rushed to the scene and found a number of household items also burnt, and according to the woman, she suspects her husband to be behind the incident, a
matter already in police hands.”
Geoffrey
Mwiima, the Kwania district CID officer, police officers dashed to the scene
and found the toddler dead. Mwiima said police has already launched a man hunt for the
suspect in connection to the murder.
A
case of arson is registered at Kwania Central Police Station on CEB 111/2021.
By
press time, preparations to have the deceased’s body taken for post mortem were
underway.
