A boda boda rider and a suspected robber have been killed
following a robbery attack in Nakasongola district.
The deceased boda boda rider has been identified as Robert
Semuyiga of Walusi trading center in
Nabiswera sub county, Nakasongola.
Semuyiga was killed
yesterday evening and his motorcycle number UFL 404P was stolen. The second
deceased is an unidentified suspected robber lynched by a mob of motorcyclists at 7:30pm for
stealing the motorcycle and killing the boda rider.

Walusi trading center, they killed him and stole his motorcycle.
Ampaire adds that the other boda boda riders learnt about the
death of their colleagues after they found his shoes near the bushes. He adds that the boda boda riders trailed the robbers till
they intercepted them near Hegan Petrol station at Ngogoro village in Luwero
district along Kampala -Gulu highway and lynched one whereas the other survived with injuries.
Isaac Wampamba, the District Councillor for Butuntumula sub
county says that Police from Luwero district fired teargas to disperse rowdy
motorists before it rescued the injured one of the robbers and rushed him to Luwero
hospital for treatment.

Ssentamu Sali, a boda boda rider who survived another robbery attack
recently says that they are working in fear over rampant motorcycle thefts in the area. Ssentamu adds that he has resolved to stop work at 6pm and return home to save their lives after surviving a robbery attack.

The body of the deceased robber was transferred to the
mortuary at Luwero hospital. Police also recovered the motorcycle and the dead body of
the boda boda rider was transferred to the mortuary at Nakasongola Health Center IV.
On December 25th , 2022 a suspected motorcycle
thief was lynched by a mob at Kyakala village in Nakasongola district. The
suspect met his death after attacking Fred Mwesigwa, a boda boda rider in
Migeera town council at Kyamukonda village, and took his motorcycle
registration number UFR 361A.
Cases of motorcycle thefts are rampant in districts of
Luwero, Nakaseke and Nakasongola districts.
Over 100 motorcycles were reported stolen from Luwero from April –November
2022 leaving victims battling injuries and loss of property.
In 2021, 81 cases of motorcycle thefts were reported in
Luwero and it was ranked in the seventh position with leading cases across the
country.
