The bodies of nine people swept away by running water in Nyarusiza sub-county in Kisoro district on Monday evening have
been recovered.
The five met their death when running water triggered by heavy rains swept
through Koranya trading center in Buzeyi village in Rukongi parish.
The running water also
ravaged Rucantege, Rukeri Sooko, and Nyagihenge villages.
Johns Muftimukiza alias Torch, a
resident of Nyarusiza sub-county
and Kisoro district male youth councilor, says that they recovered the five
bodies around 5:00 AM on Tuesday morning while the six body was recovered around 10:30 AM.

Muftimukiza says that that victim were inside
their houses when the running water from Mount
Muhabura. He says efforts to find more missing persons
are still ongoing.
He says that locals
are being helped by Uganda Red
Cross officials, police, and
Uganda People’s Défense Forces (UPDF) soldiers.
