It is alleged that they drowned after their boat was reportedly hit by a hippopotamus on their way from Restoration Gateway Hospital in Kiryandongo District where he had taken his wife for medical treatment.
The body of Jacob Ocen, the LCI Chairperson of Amenye village,
Kamdini Sub County in Oyam District who drowned in River Nile is still missing.
Ocen and his wife Janet Akello and another person Denis Okello 28, a resident
of Igoti village in Ibuje Sub County, Apac District drowned on Friday after
their boat capsized in River Nile. They were from Amenye Landing site, Kamdini
Sub County Oyam district.
It is alleged that they drowned after their boat was reportedly hit by a
hippopotamus on their way from Restoration Gateway Hospital in Kiryandongo
District where he had taken his wife for medical treatment.
Okello
and Janet Akello’s bodies were retrieved from the water, while that of Ocen is
still missing.
Victor Saasi Kule, the Oyam District Police Commander says the search for the
body of Ocen is still on-going.
