Police have hailed a 65-year-old
nurse who bravely disarmed two armed robbers in Kasokoso, Kireka suburbs in
Wakiso district.
Police
spokesperson, Fred Enanga has identified the nurse as Teddy Namutebi, 65 who
disarmed robbers who had attacked her private health facility in Kasokoso at around
9:00pm last night.
The two armed
robbers attacked Victory medical clinic pretending to be patients. According
to Police, Namutebi took them inside one of the private rooms as she thought
they had come for treatment.
Enanga explains that in the private room, the two assailants
asked the 65-year-old nurse to give them all the money she had before one of
them pulled the gun out of the overcoat he was putting on.
“The two had
a pistol hidden in the jacket, so when they were taken in the laboratories
for the blood check, one pulled out the gun and started ordering everyone to
go on the ground and asking for money, but Namutebe took a braved them and grabbed it, quickly and they made alarm. Enanga said.”
Namutebi
grabbed the pistol from one of the assailants before others started making
an alarm that attracted neighbors. The thugs took off leaving behind their
pistol.
Enanga hailed
the 65-year-old nurse for bravery that saw her disarm the robbers as well as foiling the robbery.

Cue

The
incident is one of the rarest in which robbers are disarmed and forced to flee
after abandoning their plan of robbery. Enanga explains that the pistol has
been handed over to Kireka police for tracing.
“We are
going to trace in our records to see whether this pistol belongs to any member
of security agencies, if it does not belong to security, you are aware of some
guns that come from hostile areas like eastern Congo and South Sudan, even this
one could be coming from those areas," Enanga noted.
