Some three hundred SACCOs in Bugisu Sub region is to get 9.18 billion shillings under the Presidential
initiative on Wealth and Job Creation “EMYOGA” , according to Ahamed Washaki, the Manfwa district RD.
The Emyoga initiative is aimed at enhancing
wealth and creating jobs for the people of Uganda.
Bugisu sub region comprising six districts of Mbale, Namisindwa, Manafwa, Bududa, Sironko
and Bulambuli has a total f 306 SACCOS, which
were formed under their various business sectors that have been trained and are ready to get the starter up capital from Government.
The Manfwa RDC, Ahamed Washaki who is coordinating the Emyoga program in the region said the group members have already began to make membership and
annual subscriptions of 20 thousand shillings adding that they have also opened accounts in

He however asked them to desist from using the money in reckless
ventures like buying phones, marrying wives and others since this is a
revolving fund aimed at assisting other beneficiaries.

Appolo Nangosi a beneficiary in Bukiwunya welders association said
this top up is going to help them grow their businesses. He also said they have
always had bigger dreams but money had crippled them. He hailed the initiator
of the program for the wise decision to kick poverty out of Uganda.
Emmily Namono another beneficiary asked leaders to monitor the money
so that it does not bring chaos as that of youth livelihood in the group he was
in. She said some group leaders as not good when it comes to money, she she is calling for serious monitoring.
Wilson Watira the local council five chairperson Bududa who is
also coordinating the EMYOGA program in the region asked beneficiaries to
use the money productively in case it comes so that they can come out of the poverty in the region. He also asked the leaders to be honest and avoid
chaos with other members when the money comes.
Fred Musabi the Commercial Officer Bududa said they are going to receive
over 1.5 billion shilling to cater for the three constituencies. He asked the
beneficiaries to allocate the monies to the intended purpose other than
spending it on non-developmental ventures.
