Anyamo told URN on phone that he left the school on Friday last week and was locked up in a meeting with the Commissioner in charge of Business Technical Vocational Education and Training. He asked our reporter to spare him, saying his deputy is in charge of the school.
Students of Buhimba Vocational and Technical Institute have stormed Hoima district Headquarters demanding for the immediate transfer of their principal. The more than 100 students woke up at 4:00am and trekked a distance of 12km to Hoima district headquarters this morning.
They accused their Principal Akoki Anyamo of among other things failure to organize practical training, provide them with safety wears, account for computers that were stolen from the school recently and conduct auto CAD lectures. The students vowed not to allow Anyamo to step in the school compound for alleged maladministration.
Evaristo Mugisa, the Guild President Buhimba Vocational and Technical Institute told Uganda Radio Network that they haven't had any practical lessons since this academic year begun yet some of them will seat their finals in November.
He wonders how they will do practical exams without attending any lessons. Mugisa explained that each student paid Shillings 50,000 for practical training but the school hasn't organised any session.
According to Mugisa, he forwarded the complaints of the students to the principal but he turned a deaf ear prompting students to storm the district for assistance.

Stella Mbabazi, one of the students, says it is difficult for them to conduct research because of congestion because the school has five computers, which are also not fully functional. She wants the Principal to explain how the eleven computers were stolen from the school Laboratory yet it wasn't broken into.
//Cue in: “Actually we are…
Cue out:…Computers are few."//.
She also explains that the school has failed to provide them with safety wears like overalls yet each of them paid Shillings 20,000 for the wears.
Osama Serufuusa, another student said there are a lot of complaints against Anyamo, saying he doesn't deserve to be the principal.

The Hoima District Education Officer, Godfrey Sserwanja asked the students to calm down, saying his office will engage Ministry of Education and Sports and other district authorities on how best to address their complaints. He assured the students that Anyamo will stay away from the school until their concerns are resolved amicably.
Sserwanja advised students to return to the school and concentrate in their books as some of them are due to seat their final papers. Anyamo told URN on phone that he left the school on Friday last week and was locked up in a meeting with the Commissioner in charge of Business Technical Vocational Education and Training.
He asked our reporter to spare him, saying his deputy is in charge of the school. On Thursday last week, students evicted Anyamo from the school and threatened to lynch him should he step there.
