The Omukama says following the oil discovery in the region, there is need for teamwork between the kingdom and the MPs to lobby the government and guide the people if they are to benefit from the opportunities.
The Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom has asked the area Members
of Parliament (MPs) from Bunyoro sub-region to collaborate with the kingdom to
foster development in the oil-rich sub-region.
Dr Solomon Gafabusa Iguru in a remarks read for him by Andrew
Kirungi Byakutaga, the Kingdom Omuhikirwa (Prime Minister), on Sunday says many
legislators from the region have not been fully involved in supplementing
kingdom activities.
Iguru says following the oil discovery in the region, there
is need for teamwork between the kingdom and the MPs to lobby the government
and guide the people if they are to benefit from the opportunities.
The MPs had visited the King at his palace in Hoima Town to make
their contribution towards the 25th coronation anniversary which is slated for
Tuesday.
The MPs who were led by Bunyoro Parliamentary Caucus chairperson,
Stephen Mukitale Birahwa (Buliisa County), Included Pius Rujumba Wakabi
(Bugahya County), Dr Lawrence Bategeka (Hoima Municipality), Tophace Byagira
Kaahwa (Kikuube Woman MP) and Daniel Muhairwe (Buhaguzi County). They jointly
contributed 10 million shillings.
The Omukama asked the MPs to promote proper cultural values among
the subjects.

Birahwa called on the kingdom to always involve them in their
activities.
He noted that they will lobby the government to increase funds to
Bunyoro State Affairs ministry.
