Bushenyi Boda Boda Rider Brutally Murdered Body Dumped in Forest

Police in Bushenyi District are investigating circumstances under which a Boda Boda cyclist was brutally murdered and his body dumped in a forest.

Baryomunsi Tumwebaze, 40, a resident of Kashenshero town council in Mitooma district was today morning found, dumped in a eucalyptus forest at Katungu cell, Nyakabarizi division near Bushenyi town by a group of casual workers who had gone to cut trees.

The body of the deceased who was operating his Boda Boda business at Mogas stage in Bushenyi Town was found, apparently strangled to death with his motorcycle reg. number UEV 325G taken.

Innocent Tumwebaze, chairperson of Mogas Stage Boda Boda said that the deceased was last seen yesterday evening at around 7 pm at the stage but were surprised to hear that he was found killed and dumped in the forest.

The Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department Bushenyi Benon Kivengyere says investigations in the murder have commenced.

He also appealed to the Boda Boda cyclists to obey the curfew guidelines, with another three Boda Boda riders have been murdered past curfew time in one month.

Benard Agumeneitwe, a resident of Nyabwiina cell, Kiyaga parish, Bumbaire Sub County was last month hit with metal on the head in Kanyamabona and assailants took off with his motorcycle.

Another rider Brian Kalule, a resident of Nyamiko was found lying dead at Kakoma along Kabagarame Road and the other who was not identified were also found dead.  

Martial Tumusiime says that since the outbreak of the Covid Pandemic, Boda Boda murders had reduced until recently when the riders have started defying the curfew.

Tumwebaze admits that they have defied the curfew time because of the hard conditions of living.
