The Resident District Commissioner of Bushenyi, Emmy Ngabirano, is to investigate
allegations of mismanagement of funds from gate collections at Bushenyi Main Stadium.
Ngabirano says that he has received several complaints about a group of people collecting
money at each football match without permission from the district authorities. Ngabirano
said that money had been collected at the gate, but there was no trace of it.
During a
budget conference meeting at the Multipurpose Hall in Bushenyi Ishaka
Municipality, on Tuesday, members of the council said the collections were a
source of revenue for the district, but the money was never received in the consolidated fund of the district and never accounted for.
Nahwera
Sterrison, a youth, said that the district finance officer should be tasked to
explain the irregularities.

Wilson Karuhanga, a footballer said that although the technical team denied tendering the stadium, they have evidence that it was awarded to Kabogoza Nathan, who was also given
security to manage the gates.
He said that
a fee of between 3,000 and 5,000 Shillings is charged at the gate for each match.

However, Mbamanya
Medard, the Bushenyi District Finance Officer denied the allegations of
collecting revenue from the stadium, noting that it was never tendered to
anyone.
He said
there is a council resolution to collect 500,000 Shillings from each match to maintain the stadium.

Kakonge
Apollo Lee, an activist, said that the district is losing significant revenue
from the stadium and requested that guidelines for using the stadium should be put in place.
Ngabirano
said that the issue will be discussed in the district security committee, investigated
and anyone implicated in any scandals will be arrested.
