LC III Chairpersons Storm CAO's Office Over Delayed Salaries

Busia Local Council 3 chairpersons have stormed the office of the Chief Administrative Officer-CAO to protest delayed payment. The chairpersons from the 14 sub counties in Busia district claim that they haven't received their pay since April this year.

 

 

Some of the sub counties are Masinya, Bulumbi, Masaba, Dabani, Busime, Sikuda, Buyanga, Buhehe, Masafu, Lunyo, Lumino, and Majanji, among others. On Monday, the LC 3 chairpersons stormed the CAO's office to protest delayed payment.

 

  

Steven Okodoi, the Sikuda sub-county L.C.3 chairperson, says they decided to storm the CAO's office after waiting for their pay for the past months in vain. 

He says they wanted the CAO to explain the delayed payment of their salaries and also permit them visit the Finance, Planning and Economics Development Ministry to release development funds to enable them to provide services to their community.

Christine Naomi Nabwire , the Busia District Human Resource Officer blamed the none payment of the LC 3 chairperson on delayed release of funds by the Finance Ministry and the failure by sub-county chiefs to submit the tin numbers and national identification numbers of sub-county workers.

Walter Iriama, the Busia Chief Administrative Officer called for calm, saying the Finance Ministry is handling their matter. He promised to pay the LC 3 chairpersons soon.
