Busia Residents Protests Missing Names In Mosquito Net Distribution

Lwanga Wanyama, another L.C.1 chairman of Bujwanga village in Masaba sub county says that they collected data that showed the area requires 224 mosquito nets but they only received 165 nets which are too few.

Residents in Busia district have protested over some of their names which are missing from  registers for mosquito net distribution.

In their protest, residents stormed distribution points while others confronted their local council one chairpersons demanding to be given the mosquito nets.

Busia district received a total of 257,960 insecticide-treated mosquito nets targeting the total population of over 325,723 across the district.

Rose Nandera, a resident from Mawero west village says that she has 8 children and they all want nets, she vowed not to leave the distribution point until being given all the nets due to her family.

Angela Abeja another resident from Mawero west says she is angry with the ruling government for discrimination and she wants clarity form the L.C.1 chairman as to why whenever they distribute mosquito nets the village is always left out.

Fred Bigona another resident says that they were not sensitized to stay home for the registration of mosquito net distribution. He appealed government to intervene.

Alexander Wejuli, the L.C.1 chairman Mawero village says that over 100 house holds missed mosquito nets, they were advised to list their names so that incase some remains they will be given.

He noted that the big challenge was that most people were not at home during time of registration

Wilson Sanya, the L.C 1 chairman Masaba village in Masaba sub-county has over 700 population but only received 2 bales of 80 mosquito nets. Residents have stormed his office demanding for the nets which he doesn't have.
