Unknown thugs have raised Arubaine market in the Eastern division
of Busia Municipality and made off with merchandise worth over Shillings 50million.
The thugs raided the market on Saturday night and broke in several lockups.
They made off with eight boxes of tomatoes, unspecified
bunches of Matooke and bags of onions among others. Aisha Salama, a vendor
of onions and tomatoes, says that she found her store open with all her market
goods worth Shillings 680,000 missing. She says the raid is a big blow to her
business, adding that she has nowhere to begin from.

that they were shocked to open their stores only to find their products
missing. He suspects that the theft was the work of those who took over
security from the market management.

Ismael Gidudu Gudio, the chairperson Arubaine
market says that the division security committee took over the market and
deployed security personal. He says that it is unfortunate that shortly after
handing over the market to the division their goods are missing.
