He says Muze was also working closely with Ali Kabambe alias Munakenya who has been the gang\'s trained assassin and surveillance expert Musa Donku.
Police have completed investigations into the Busoga murders and submitted the files to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions -DPP for perusal, URN has learnt.
At least 18 suspects are being held at Nalufenya Police station in Jinja district in connection with the murders. They are facing charges for offenses ranging from terrorism, murder and Aggravated robbery to defilement and rape.
The conclusion of the investigations follows the arrest of Musa Muze and another suspect only identified as Hassan. The duo was picked up from Barogole village in Ojwina Division in Lira municipality on Sunday.
Fred Enanga, the spokesman Uganda Police says that, Muze is believed to have ridden the motorcycle that transported hit-men in the murder of Peter Tito Okware, the Buyinja Sub county LC III chairperson and some Muslim clerics in Bugiri district. He says Muze was also working closely with Ali Kabambe alias Munnakenya who has been the gang\'s trained assassin and surveillance expert Musa Doku.
According to the police report, all the murders were executed on the orders of one Salim, who is also in police custody. Salim reportedly got direct orders from Jamil Mukulu, the head of the rebel outfit Allied Democratic Front -ADF
The suspects were reportedly promised Shs 40 million for the murder of Sheikh Abdul Kadir Muwaya that they were expected to pick from the Uganda-Democratic Republic of Congo border.
According to Enanga, their findings show that the suspects were at times hired as assassins as was the case in the murder of Peter Tito Okello, the LC3 Chairperson Buyinja Sub-county in Namayingo district.
They were reportedly paid off by his political opponent, whose name has been withheld by police. Attempts by URN to get a comment from DPP were futile as the Directorate\'s Spokesperson Ms Jane Kajuga was not picking her calls.
