Pupils of St. James Church of Uganda Primary School , have continued to arm themselves with more basins, bowls and cups ready to battle the floods, that have become a common occurence at the school.
The constant floods have been aggravated by the lack of a retention wall around the school, and the school authorities say they urgently need a good samaritan to come to their aid.
Wasswa Godfrey Kijjambu the school headmaster says he had written to Kampala City Council and Kawempe Division to help improve their schools environment but to no avail.

When it rains both pupils and teachers fail to make it to school and this was evident in the last PLE results where only three pupils passed in Division I.
People have vacated houses surrounding the schools because of the water problem, while a few others have improvised retention walls using murram filled sacks to block the water.
Wasswa Kijjambu says this being a UPE school that depends on government grants, it can not afford to buy murram to shield the school from the floods.

Meanwhile, the population of St. James Primary school continues to drop.
Speaking to Uganda Radio Network, the newly elected Mayor of Kawempe, Hajj Mubarak Munyagwa said dealing with floods is high on his agenda. He says that drainages need maintenance, while others need building afresh.
Hajji Munyangwa explained the water problem in Bwaise was worsened by the building of the Northern by-pass which left no channel to drain water from the area.
He appealed to government to build an alternative water channel from Bwaise to the Nakivubo channel to save properties like the St. James Primary school from being destroyed by water.
