A casual labourer has raped a 10-year-girl in Nakawa Division a Kampala city suburb and strangled her to death. The Kampala
Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesiyire identifies the suspect as Gerald
Sematiko, a resident of Katogo
Zone in Kinawataka in Nakawa Division in Kampala.

night and strangled her to death
to cover his crime.
"He stuffed the body in a sack and dumped it in the
nearby drainage channel hoping that rain would wash it away before fleeing,” Waiswa said. Detectives from Police at Jinja Road who
visited the scene recovered some exhibits including marijuana.
According to Owoyesigyire, police
searched Ssematiko’s room where they recovered a blood-stained
mosquito net, blanket, two cups and half stick of Marijuana.

Waiswa has asked police to hunt down the suspect and
other criminals who have been sealing
him the banned substances.

Owoyesigyire efforts are underway to arrest the suspect to answer for murder. The deceased’s
body is lying at Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary pending a post-mortem.
At least 1500 children are abused or tortured

Uganda Police Force. However, the convictions of the abusers of children in
court are as low as 45 per 1500 cases.
