CECAFA U-20 Challenge: Tanzania Defeats Sudan to Qualify for Finals

First half goals from Patrick Israel Mwenda on the 38th minute and on form striker John Kelvin Pius on the 45th minute was enough to eject Sudan who beat South Sudan to reach the second last stage of the championship.

Tanzania has defeated Sudan 2:1 to qualify for the CECAFA U-20 Challenge cup semi-finals.

The game was played at Pece Stadium in Gulu town.

First-half goals from Patrick Israel Mwenda in the 38th minute and striker John Kelvin Pius in the 45th minute were enough to eject Sudan.

The Sudan team captained by Mohammed Osama Ali tried to come back in the game in second half when they pulled a goal back through striker Abbas Namir in the 55th minute but could not despite dominating the midfield.

Mohamed Mousa the Sudanese head coach blamed the loss to individual mistakes in the defence.

According to Mousa, his players where inexperienced compared to the Tanzania team which has experience, flare and composure.
