Chaos At Emorimor’s Nomination

Trouble started when Mzee William Aloch, one of the founding members of the Iteso Cultural Union stormed the nomination venue at the union headquarters in Soroti city on Tuesday in the company of his lawyer to serve Emolot in line with his petition challenging his election as the caretaker Emorimor.

Drama ensued during the nomination ceremony of Paul Sande Emolot for the vacant position of the Emorimor of the Iteso Cultural Union following the death of the later cultural head, Augustine Osuban Lemukol on February 5th, 2022. 

Trouble started when Mzee William Aloch, one of the founding members of the Iteso Cultural Union stormed the nomination venue at the union headquarters in Soroti city on Tuesday in the company of his lawyer to serve Emolot in line with his petition challenging his election as the caretaker Emorimor.

However, Emolot's supporters descended Aloch and roughed him up. They punched him several blows and kicks before police intervened to rescue him according to an eyewitness. Dr. Charles Otim, the Iteso Cultural Union Electoral Commission Chairperson later declared Emolot dully nomination unopposed.
