Buganda Road Magistrate's Court has granted bail to city lawyer Paul Wanyoto Mugoya.

Wanyoto was two weeks ago arrested and charged for obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Wanyoto and his co-accused Moses Ndyanabangyi were on Thursday granted a cash bail of 5 million shillings while their sureties were each bonded at 100 million shillings non-cash.

Ndyanabangyi presented Muhammad Luwagyi a resident of Makindye and Mutekanga 64, a resident of Kasangati as his sureties. Wanyoto, on the other hand, presented Kampala businessmen John Brian Menya and Denis Lukoola as his sureties.

Buganda Road court presided by Grade one Magistrate Esther Nahilya heard that the sureties were substantial and the suspects were still innocent until proven guilty.

Nahilya also directed the sureties of the accused persons to deposit their valid National Identification Cards in court.

The suspects two weeks ago asked court to release them on bail because they are breadwinners of their families who have responsibilities.

.

The two are accused for allegedly obtaining 207 Million Shillings from a South Sudan National Yahya Osman Muhammad who wanted to purchase 265 Kilograms of gold on behalf of AFWAF firm which operates from Dubai.

The prosecution also indicates that the duo also operating from a non-existent refinery (Nile Refinery) in Buziga allegedly obtained 50 million shillings from Muhammad which was meant for gold refining and smelting.
