A section of the Bamasaba from three major clans have protested the election of Mike Mudoma as the Masaba Cultural leader Umukuka.

Last week, the State Minister for Culture Peace Mutuzo declared Miki Mudoma as the new Umukuka.  This follows the fights and confusion between the two factions of Wagabyalile and Mike Mudoma who each claim to be the legitimate cultural leader.

On Thursday, the clan members for Mawambu, Mubuyu and Wanale Clans stormed Masaba cultural institution denouncing the action of the minister.

Augustine Wamalwa from Wanale clan says that they are disappointed with the minister’s decision of declaring Mudoma as a new cultural leader yet as Bamasaba from the three clans voted Wagabyalila. He adds that they want the President to intervene and not allow the gazetting of Mudoma since he was illegally elected.

Stephen Gimuyi from Mwambu clan says that they have given an ultimatum of 17 days to the government to intervene or else they will hold a massive demonstration across the Bugisu region.
