Herbert Murungi, the Kibasi Town Council LC V councilor in Kabarole District is nursing injuries he allegedly sustained in an attack by a Clinical officer Kijura Health Center III during a monitoring exercise around 6:30 pm on Monday.

Murungi told URN that he recieved a tip from patients at the facility indicating that there was no midwife to attend to expecting mothers and rushed to see what was going on. He explains that when he arrived at the facility, he was received by a cleaner who directed him to a clinical officer he identifies as Adolf Musinguzi who instead abused him.

“When I tried to inquire from Musinguzi where the midwives are, the doctor abused me. I left and tried to call the LC III chairperson. But as I was calling the health worker attacked me and hit me with a stone on the head. I tried to defend myself and a scuffle ensured,” he said. According to Murungi, they have lost three mothers in the past few weeks.

Priscilla Tuhaise, the facility In-charge says that she is yet to know the real cause of the scuffle because she had left the facility by the time of the scuffle.  Efforts to speak to Musinguzi didn't yield results as his known mobile number was switched off and he wasn’t at the facility. By the time of filing this story, Murungi was still receiving treatment at God’s Grace clinic in Kibasi Town Council.
