Councilors Demand Transfer of Aduku Town Clerk

Local Council 3 Councilors of Aduku Town Council in Kwania district on Monday turned rowdy and demanded for immediate transfer of the town Clerk Obaya Keny James.

During a council session, the councilors accused the Town Clerk of abuse of office, incompetence, failing to implement council resolutions and having poor working relationship with the technical staff. 

Alex Ekwang, the Aduku Town Council Male Councilor representing PWDs raised a motion to have the town clerk deferred to appointing authority and transferred with immediate effect.

Dorcus Ogwang, the female councilor representing Teduka B ward to the Town Council seconded the motion, causing commotion in the council. 

She claims that the town clerk failed to implement council resolutions citing an issue of bicycles which was initiated by council in June last year and the delayed completion of the Administration block.

The councilors say the town clerk has failed to give accountability of 80 million shillings meant for the renovation of the Aduku Town Council Administration block that started in 2018.

Peter Otim, the leader of government business, accused the Town Clerk Mr. Obaya Keny James of of handling of revenue collected daily from the market 

He also said the Town Clerk has failed to implement government programs calling for his immediate exit.

The town clerk bowing to the pressure from the councilors attempted to move out but was saved after the intervention of the Aduku Town Council LCV Male Councilor George KK Akaca and the LC3 Chairman Rolex Oyari who pleaded with the councilors.

Akaca KK pleaded with the councilors to remain calm as the matter will be forwarded to the Ministry of Local Government through the Chief Administrative Officer.

Obaya Keny refuted all the allegations being levelled against him saying he has never mismanaged the town council funds. He explained calmly to the irrate councilors how public expenditures are handled He asks for patience from councilors as the matter is being followed up.
