The Kampala City Hall Court has ordered Ingrid Turinawe, a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga faction, to desist from acts of lawlessness or risk having her bail revoked. Presiding over the case on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Senior Grade One Magistrate Edgar Karakire charged Turinawe and two others with common nuisance before granting them bail under strict conditions.

The co-accused are Salimu Kamunye (33), an unemployed resident of Kyaliwajjala, Kira Division, Wakiso District, and Shadiya Namubiru (27), who also resides in the same area. All three denied the charges. Court heard that on February 10, 2025, the trio unlawfully participated in a procession along Parliamentary Avenue in Central Division, Kampala, carrying a blue banner inscribed "Free Uganda."

The prosecution alleges that the act was unauthorized, causing annoyance, obstruction, and inconvenience to the public. During the bail application, the accused presented sureties, including Jackson Turinawe, Ingrid Turinawe’s husband and a produce trader, Doreen Nyanjura, Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor and longtime friend, Ssebyala Bukenya, an electrician at Seroma Arcade, and Hood Ziiwa, a plumber.

The prosecution, led by City Hall Resident State Attorney Faridah Kasana, acknowledged the sureties as substantial but objected to bail, citing a surge in common nuisance offenses in Kampala. She urged the court to impose strict conditions to deter further acts.

In his ruling, Magistrate Karakire agreed with the prosecution but granted bail, setting the following conditions. Each accused must pay 500,000 Shillings cash, while each surety must sign non-cash bail bonds of 5 million shillings.
