Lwengo
district local government headquarters have been closed for disinfection after
ten staff tested positive for the Corona Virus Disease-COVID-19.
Two senior officials including Asuman Bwambale, the
Assistant Chief Administrative Officer-CAO and Ibrahim Kizindo, Lwengo District
Returning Officer have so far succumbed to the deadly virus.
The Lwengo CAO, Winston Agule Mulimira, says they have since cut their workforce from 30 to 10 per cent.

28, 2020 under strict observance of the Standard Operating Procedures-SOPs
issued by Ministry of Health.

Mulimira says that the short break will not affect service delivery, saying the
few available workers in different departments will try their best to provide
services to their clients.
William Matovu Sayitoti, the Speaker Lwengo District, says
they are concerned about the rate at which their staff members are contracting
the disease.
He appealed to the district COVID-19 task force to intervene by intensifying its
operations to crack down on people who deliberately refuse to adhere to the
SOPs.
