A motorcycle rider has died after he knocked a hippo in Hamukungu, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kasese
District.
According to Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East
police spokesperson, the rider only identified as Asaba was riding a motorcycle
registration number UGA 359D at about 11:40 PM, and died instantly after knocking
the Hippo.
He added that one passenger
identified as Timothy Tumusime was critically injured.
Tumushime said preliminary investigations indicate
that Asaba was riding at the high speed.

He added that the police at Katwe Kabatoro division
rushed to the scene and the body was picked up and transported to Kasese Health Centre III.
Police in the area have several times warned drivers and riders to adhere to the Uganda Wildlife AuthoritypUWA set speed limit while going through the park.
