The outgoing Deputy Kumi Resident District Commissioner-RDC, Eric Sakwa is in trouble for improper disposal of UPDF property contrary to the UPDF Act.

Michael Odongo, the East Kyoga Region Spokesperson, says trouble for Sakwa started when they picked up David Moses Ogwapit, a resident of Angopet village Kumi municipality for simple robbery.

Ogwapit was picked up during a cordon and search operation after Alice Betty Akiror, a resident of Kumi municipality filed a case of robbery at Kumi police station.

Akiror ran to the police station after she was robbed of Shillings 120,000 and a hand bag containing her personal effects on August 10th, 2018.

Odongo says they decided to conduct a cordon and a search operation leading to the arrest of Ogwapit when they found him with the stolen property and military boots in his house.

He says during interrogations, Ogwapit said he was given the military boots by the RDC.

Odongo says they have received information that Sakwa has since complained to Directorate of Public Prosecution, which has called for the file for possible review.

Sakwa has admitted recording a statement at Kumi Police station, but denies involvement in any robbery case. He told URN on phone on this morning that he took his military boots for polishing to a Shoe shiner on Saturday and traveled to Mbale for burial hoping to pick them the next day.

"It's unfortunate that on Sunday night the shoe shiner by names of Ogwapit was arrested for snatching a bag belonging to one of the prostitutes in town and during a police search they recovered my shoes from him," Sakwa said.

He accuses police bosses in Kumi for using this incident to soil his name because he has been clashing with them for corruption. Sakwa has since been transferred to Jinja as full Resident District Commissioner.
