Four officials of Masindi district local government have been arrested by state house operatives, over corruption.
The suspects are Jackson Bikobo, the chief finance officer, Dr. John Turyagaruka, the district medical officer, Patrick Okise an accountant with health department and Ben Chale, the former sub accountant of Kiryandongo hospital.
They were picked up yesterday by a team of state operatives led by Martin Byaruhanga, which is Masindi to investigate various allegations of corruption.
Byaruhanga says that preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects and several others still at large diverted about 33 million shillings meant for the health sector during the 2004/5 financial year.
In September last year Bikobo eluded arrest when police among others arrested the former Chief administrative officer Milton Kato.
He returned to the district with a clearance purportedly from the director of public prosecution. Kato's case was dismissed by court on technical grounds.
Uganda Radio Network has however learnt that Kato has also been summoned over the new developments. Like all departments, officials of the health department of Masindi have over the years, been accused of corruption.
