The vehicle of the Dokolo District LCV Chairperson, Frederick Odongo has been impounded over a 400 Million Shillings debt.
The vehicle registration number LG 0018-028, Toyota Pajero Sport sky blue in Colour was impounded on Tuesday morning from Pauline Hotel Annex in Lira town by the court Bailiffs and police. It was towed to Lira Central Police Station.
Trouble for the district stemmed from a court case in which they lost a court case after they were sued by the former Principal Personnel Officer, Kawa Lolo Abura in 2013 for unfair termination. Lira High Court awarded him more than 400M shillings in compensations and general damages and ordered that he should be reinstated.
Frederick Odongo confirmed the incident saying it is being handled administratively.
Musafirri Suwed, Dokolo District Information Officer said that they have tentatively allocated Odongo another vehicle which he will use to conduct district activities as they continue resolving the matter with Abura’s lawyers.
The District is also yet to reinstate Abura.
