The Kabale High Court Assistant Registrar, Didas Muhumuza, says that Richard Asiimwe attached to Kaharo Police Post and Teopista Busingye both residents of Kibungo cell, Nkumbura Parish in Kaharo Sub County, were set free on the directives of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Muhumuza says that he was informed by the DPP's office that the court should discontinue the proceedings of the case.
The DPP also ordered that the state to refund the 2 million shillings that Asiimwe and Busingye had paid to secure bail.
Muhumuza however declined to reveal why the DPP took that decision.
The two had been accused of conniving to poison Kyintaribona. It is alleged that the deceased developed severe chest and stomach pain and died shortly after returning from Kabale town where she had spent a day to visit her grandchild.
A post-mortem report done by Dr. Daniel Odurusi at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital and submitted to court indicates that Kyintaribona died of Coronary Artery Disease, which occurs when fats restrict blood flow through blood vessels of the heart muscle.
