According to the road-map released by the Electoral Commission, the update of the voters’ register will take place on May 27th 2019 while consultative meeting with LC1 chairpersons on 29th May 2019 and consultative meeting with other stakeholders including political parties, religious leaders and Civil Society Organizations on 30th May.
The Electoral Commission has set July 11th 2019 as the polling
date for the Nebbi district LCV chairperson by-election.
The seat fell vacant following the death of Esrom William Alenyo
at Mulago hospital in Kampala on 25 September 2018.
According to the road-map released by the Electoral
Commission, the update of the voters’ register starts on May 27th 2019
while consultative meeting with LC1 chairpersons on 29th May 2019 and

religious leaders and Civil Society Organizations on 30th May.
“Polling for district chairperson and lower local governments will
be on 11th July 2019. The Electoral Commission calls on all
stakeholders in Nebbi district to participate in the above activities in
accordance with the guidelines for the by-elections”, part of the roadmap
released by EC chairman Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi reads in part.
Michael Arinaitwe the Nebbi District Returning officer says the commission is
already conducting voter education in the district.

According to the roadmap, EC will display the voters register from
12th to 21st June 2019 and conduct village meetings to verify voters register
during the same period.
Candidates will be nominated on 12th to 13th June 2019
and campaigns commence from 14th to 9th July 2019.
Campaigns will take place for 25 days from 14th June to 9th July
2019, ahead of the elections.
