EC Suspends Voting in Mwenge County North Constituency

Addressing journalists at the National Tally Centre in Kyambogo, Byabakama said that a new polling date in the Constituency will be announced. He equally appealed to the respective candidates and voters in the area to remain calm as they wait for a new polling date.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended today's polling in Mwenge County Constituency, in Kyenjojo district. According to the Election Commission- EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama, the voting exercise was suspended due to a mismatch in the voter materials.

Addressing journalists at the National Tally Centre in Kyambogo, Byabakama said that a new polling date in the Constituency will be announced. He equally appealed to the respective candidates and voters in the area to remain calm as they wait for a new polling date.

Justice Byabakama also said that voting at Kakyere polling station in Ntungamo district could not take place due to the grabbing of a polling box by unknown person.He said that police is currently investigating the matter and that voting at this polling station will take place again tomorrow.

Voting for a president and Members of Parliament in different areas took place today and the Electoral Commission Chairperson says that successful candidates for the parliamentary seats will be declared at the District Tally Centres and the final results of the presidential race will be declared at the Kyambogo National Tally Centre on Saturday by 4pm.

There are 18,103,603 registered Voters and 34,684 polling stations. Male voters constitute 47.5 per cent and Females 52.5 per cent of voters.
