Eight Survive Major Accident Along Kampala- Jinja Highway

A GM trailer was trying to access the factory premises when a bus UAL 202R Isuzu that was heading to Kampala from Jinja knocked the trailer and it overturned.

Police in Nakibizi, in Buikwe district have confirmed that eight people have survived a road accident in Nakibizi near the juction of GM sugar factory in Njeru along the Jinja-Kampala high way have this afternoon.

According to the Ssezibwa Region Police Spokesperson, Hellen Butoto, a GM trailer was trying to access the factory premises when the bus, UAL 202R Isuzu, that was heading to Kampala from Jinja knocked the trailer and overturned, rollingoff the road.

She confirms that the bus involved in the accident was being driven by Fred Wataka and the trailer vehicle Reg number UBB 799C/UBA 562H M BENZ AXOR was being driven by Rashid Wajja, a resident of Lugazi Municipality in Buikwe district.

The victims who sustained serious injuries have been named as Fred Wataka driver of the bus; Joan Ainembabazi; Bena Atino; Anthony Ojobi; Pilipo Odeke; Rebecca Amusala; Caroline Nyapende and Tom Ogire.

These have been rushed to Jinja Referral Hospital as the investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the accident.
