Embattled Park Yard Market Chairman Detained for Assaulting Vendors

Godfrey Busulwa, the embattled chairman of Nakivubo park yard and three other suspects have been arrested for assault.

The suspects are accused of assaulting Lameck Lubwama and Peterson Mwesigwa outside Buganda road court today.

The other suspects are John Segirinya, Arafat Ssenyonga and Ashraf Kawesa.

Trouble started when Busulwa who had reported to Buganda road court where he is being tried for embezzling 83 million shillings, which was donated to the vendors, stepped out of court.

Lameck Lubwama and Peterson Mwesigwa, who are vendors at Nakivubo Park Yard Market, started accusing him of defrauding them.

Infuriated by the accusations Busulwa and the other suspects pounced on the vendors and started punching them until police intervened.

Busulwa and his accomplices were picked up and taken to Kampala Central Police station.

Henry Kalulu, the Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson says the suspects will be charged with assault.
