The Parliament Defence committee chaired by Mubende Woman MP Namugwanya Benny today summoned the Inspector General of Police Maj Gen Kale Kayihura.
Among issues to be discussed was the continuous arrest and humiliation of opposition leaders and pro Mbabazi youth leaders in various parts across the country.
In attendance was the State Minister for Internal Affairs James Baba, Maj Gen Kale Kayihura, CID Boss Grace Akullo, Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Andrew Kaweesa, Deputy CID Director Godfrey Musana and over 15 members of Parliament from both the ruling National Resistance Movement and the opposition.
The IGP was being grilled over police conduct, brutality, violation of human rights and his alleged political lineage especially towards President Yoweri Museveni.
At one time the CID Boss Grace Akullo was even made swear oath for her statement that it is the state that is the complainant in the pro-Mbabazi youth’s case.

In 2012 Parliament announced that it had resolved to reduce the cost of stationery and embrace e-governing by buying the latest version of iPads at a whopping cost of one billion shillings.
The decision to buy iPads was taken by the Parliamentary Commission arguing that there were spending a lot of money on stationery.
Even though an IPAD can yes be used to play cards, but the reason behind the purchase of IPads was for the MPs to get reports prior to their presentation before Plenary and committee sittings and also keep tabs on the going ons in Parliament.
