FDC Postpones Grassroot Polls in Teso Sub Region

According to the road map sent to party officials, elections was supposed to kick off yesterday beginning April 15 - 22, in the Teso sub-region.

The opposition Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party has postponed the election of its grassroots structures in Teso sub region. 

According to the FDC road map, the elections of the lower party structures in Teso sub region were scheduled to start on April 14th to 22.

However, John Enomu, the FDC chairperson Soroti district says they have postponed the elections to Saturday to allow them conduct training for the people who will oversee the exercise.

Enomu explains that, once they are done with the training, they will conduct elections for village and parish party officials on Saturday before moving on to the sub-county, county and district levels. 

He says the posts to be filled up include that of chairperson Chairperson, treasurer, general secretary, secretary for information and publicity, youth, Disability, Secretary for Women Affairs, Elderly and Secretary for mobilization among others.

Jonathan Ebwalu is eying the FDC party ticket for the Soroti Municipality MP seat. According to Ebwalu he is waiting for Saturday to contest for one of the party seats in the district. He calls on all Party members to participate in the Elections of lower party officials.

But Jimmy Opio a staunch FDC support is disappointed with the postponement of the polls saying he had mobilized people to vote him as Chairperson of his village committee. Opio walked to Kichinjaji polling center, only to find out that the elections were off.
