Major General Mugisha Muntu, the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC President has come under fire from some party supporters over his leadership style.

On Wednesday evening, General Muntu paid an impromptu visit to the FDC party offices in Luweero town council on his way to Northern Uganda.

Muntu met scores of FDC mobilisers led by the Luweero District FDC chairman Bwanika Bbaale. He invited questions from the group about the party leadership and the ongoing party mobilisation campaign.

Amis Bugembe, one of the party mobilisers tasked Muntu to explain why he has refused to embrace activism like his predecessor Kizza Besigye as a key mobilisation strategy to bring down the National Resistance Movement party.  Bugembe explained that as FDC supporters, they believe they can cause regime change through activism because the election process in the country is flawed.

He attributed the popularity of Besigye to activism, which he said is a strong tool of mobilization.  Bwanika Bbaale, the Luweero District FDC party chairman and his deputy Charles Tukumushabe also asked Muntu to comment on the allegations that the party is becoming weaker and less visible because of his leadership style, which isn\'t understood by majority of members.

Geoffrey Kaddu, the Luweero Town Council FDC mobiliser accused Muntu of leading the party like the army where things are done in secrecy saying this can\'t work in a political environment. Others members asked Muntu to explain what the party has achieved since he adopted his leadership style.

Muntu defended himself saying that he opted to concentrate on building the party structures instead of taking over activism adding that even if they succeed in kicking out President Yoweri Museveni, the country could descend into turmoil under the prevailing conditions. Muntu said that he supports activism but he is busy building the party.

He told the party members that he is ready to stand as FDC party candidate in the 2016 general elections.
