The
Forum for Democratic Change-FDC candidate, Demisco Akena has been elected the
Chairperson Awach Sub County in Gulu district.
Otema garnered 581 votes deafting his closest rival Erick Otema Morris of the National
Resistance Movement (NRM) party who garnered 433 votes.
The results were declared from the Aswa County Headquarters by Ronald Agaba,
the Electoral Commission Returning Officer for Gulu district.
The race attracted five candidates; the others included Richard Ojok who
garnered 240 votes, Chanon Otika with 114 votes, and Opiro .D. MD with 93
votes. All three were Independent candidates.

Otema who is also a boda-boda motorcyclist rider said that his office will
ensure unity and good service deliveries in the Sub County. He attributed
his victory to the trust which the voters had in him and the support of his
party members which is also a stronghold in the area.
Agaba said that the election was peaceful however it was marred with a low
turn-up of voters.
Awach Sub County has at least 3,250 registered voters from the 10 polling
stations.
Kenneth Oyet Odong, the Awach Sub County Speaker said the election is welcoming
because the area had suffered unbalanced representation due to the vacant
Chairperson`s office since the death of Oteka.
