A couple in Rubanda district is in fear following the disappearance of their 13-year-old son.

Elias Mugisha and his wife, Annet Tusasibwe, both residents of Rusikizi-Rwere village in Muyanje in Bubaare Sub County, say their son, Kevin Musimenta disappeared on August 28, between their home and Kigezi High Primary School in Kabale Municipality, where he had gone for holiday classes.

Tukwasibwe says they waited for Musimenta to return home in vain. A teacher only identified as Kenneth later informed them that the pupil left school at around 10 a.m. after attending a lesson.

Tusasibwe says she later received a call from someone using a number registered in the names of Amon Muhanguzi claiming to know the whereabouts of their son. The caller asked for 10,000 Shillings to enable them to transport the boy home, but the line was switched off after the money was sent.

Moses Bwengye Tumijukye, the Kabale District Inspector of Schools, says the disappearance of the teenager is unfortunate and prays that the pupil is recovered alive.

Bwengye faults Kigezi High Primary School management for teaching during holidays in contravention of the directives from the Education and Sports Ministry.

David Byamugisha, the head Kigezi High School primary refutes claims that Musimenta disappeared while at school since the school wasn’t operating during holidays.
