The Federation of Uganda Football Associations – FUFA has
finally cleared Sports Club Villa to take part in the ongoing
Star Times Uganda Premier League season.
“FUFA has directed its various Bodies concerned with the organization
of the FUFA Competitions to include Sports Club Villa in the FUFA Competitions
fixtures inclusive of the fixtures of the 2021/22 Uganda Premier League with
immediate effect,” read the Statement from FUFA.
The decision by the local soccer governing body comes
after two matchdays have been already completed on the fixtures. FUFA recently revoked SC
Villa’s license after the club failed to adhere to some requirements as per the club licensing that includes having a Chief Executive Officer.
Consequently, the local soccer governing body through Decolas Kizza, Deputy CEO in charge of football ordered that Premier league secretariat
to remove Villa from the fixture and henceforth the Club has not been in action.
FUFA has now granted a provision license to SC Villa following the club’s Extra Ordinary Club Congress
held on Saturday 23rd October 2021 at Serena Hotel- Kigo
During this meeting, the stake holders resolved that Sports
Club Villa shall undertake the election of the Club President and the entire
Executive Board by Saturday 13th November 2021 in accordance with the Club
Statutes that were approved by FUFA.
In addition to the provisions of Sports Club Villa
Statutes, the eligibility criteria for the Candidates of the Position of Club
President of Sports Club Villa shall include vetting and approval by the Board
of the Registered Trustees of the Villa Members Trust.
According to FUFA, Sports Club Villa henceforth requested FUFA that
considering the above Club Congress resolutions, the Club should be issued with
a provisional club license for the 2021/22 Uganda Premier League Season and consequently FUFA granted the club a provision license.
“FUFA has now granted Sports Club Villa a conditional and
provisional club license subject to the terms in the Club Congress resolutions
presented to FUFA, " stated the statement from FUFA.
The football governing body however made it clear that the license will be withdrawn
if the club does not do what is required of them. “However, FUFA shall withdraw
immediately the provisional license in the event that the club fails to fulfill
the resolutions against which the license has been issued," stated the communication.
Now SC Villa is expected to be included on the fixture of
the league that continues on 26th October 2021.
