FUFA Names Uganda Cubs Squad for Turkey Tournament

The Federation of Uganda Football Association, (FUFA) has named a 23 member Uganda Cubs team that will be setting off for the Turkey invitational tournament slated for Monday.

The squad comprises of Daniel Ssemwogerere, Delton Oyo, Jack Komakech, Ivan Asaba, Ibrahim Ekollot, Ibrahim Juma, James Jarieko, John Kokas, John Rodgers, Thomas Kakaire, Shafic Kakande, Samson Kasozi, Kevin Ssekimbega, Soul Kiddawalime, Gavin Kizito, Rodgers Mugisha, Isma Mugulusi, Polycarp Mwaka, Edwine Mukisa, Davis Ssekajja, Shafik Wasswanga, Yasin Owane, and Ronnie Ziraba.

Jackson Magala, the teams' Head Coach says that the squad was chosen after 10 days training at Fufa technical centre where a group of 30 players exhibited their skills and those who failed to measure up to the expected standards were discontinued from the team.

“Most of the players from our competitor teams are very first and physically fit compared to the cubs, so we made an evaluation during the 10-day training and whoever failed to reach our targets had to be eliminated,” he said.

Magala adds that the team has mastered defensive and first scoring tactics which will enable to tackle out their competitors.

The highly anticipated tournament which will be played in Turkey's Antalya City has attracted 12 teams from different continents of the world.

Uganda cubs will fight their way out of the tournament's group 2 against Cameroon, Morocco and Belarus.

The cubs that will depart for the tournament on Friday afternoon shall play their first match against Cameroon on Monday next week.
