Two gunmen have raided the home of Robert Centenary, the Kasese Municipality MP elect in Kamimba ward. According to Centenary, the two gunmen who were armed with a gun and machete struck at around 1am.

He says the gunmen broke the window to the room where his maid was sleeping to get entry and started asking for him. On realizing that he was away from home for a tour in Kabale district, the assailants decided to rape the 16-year-old maid.

Centenary believes that the attackers had come to assassinate him since he has been receiving warnings that certain people are targeting him.

The maid told URN that she was raped by one of the assailants who was carrying a machete after she declined to disclose the whereabouts of her boss. Deo Obora, the The Rwenzori East Regional Police Commander, has confirmed the raid adding that, investigations are ongoing to find the attackers.

Obora also told URN this morning that maid has been taken to Bishop Masereka Medical Centre in Kasese town for treatment. Tension is high in Kasese district districts following clashes between the Bakonzo and Bamba.

The clashes were triggered by the disputed Hima Town council LC 3 polls. At least people including a police officer have died in the clashes.
