Hailstorm Devastates Five Villages in Ngora District

The rain which started at around 3 pm, lasted for about two hours and devastated the villages of Agule, Ojang, Atira and Kapir.

A heavy rainstorm with hailstones has ravaged four villages in Kapir County, Ngora District. 

The rain which started at around 3 pm, lasted for about two hours and devastated the villages of Agule, Ojang, Atira and Kapir. 

According to Isaac Obula, in the LC1 Agule village, the hailstones destroyed the roofs of several houses and are still covering gardens for bananas, coffee, beans, cassava, and sweet potatoes.

Mary Maculate Adong, a resident of Agule village in Kapir sub-county, expressed shock at the destruction. She says that she lost nine hens, two gardens of cassava and sweet potatoes

James Etenyu, also from Agule, says that three of her grass-thatched houses were destroyed.

Esther Aguti, the Assistant Agricultural Officer for Kapir sub-county, visited the affected areas to assess the damages. She reported that over 200 hectares of cassava have been affected so far, and they are continuing to register losses of poultry, livestock, and other crops.
