A heavy storm has left a trail of destruction in Kikuube district. More than 600 people are crying foul following heavy rains that destroyed their houses, crop gardens and livestock on Monday evening.

Some of the most affected people are from

Kanigiro, Nyarubale, Kabakenda, Kichope, Muntoke, Rukedde, Kuarukube, Nyabuhere Nyaibale and Muhwiju villages in Bugambe parish in Bugambe sub county Kikuube district.

The rains that lasted for more than three hours destroyed over 60 permanent houses including Kanigiro Church of Uganda. The rain also destroyed several hectares of Maize, Rice, Bananas, Cassava, beans, G/nuts and Potatoes gardens, 15 cows and unspecified numbers of chicken.

The affected people have pitched camp at Bugambe sub county headquarters without any help. Some of them have started erecting makeshifts at the sub county Headquarters since they have nowhere to call home.

Deo Kyosaba, the LC1 chairperson Kanigiro village, says more than 600 households were directly affected by the hailstorm. He too lost several goats and chicken to the heavy down pour.
