Heavy rains characterized by hailstorms have destroyed acres of crop gardens in Rubare town council Ntungamo district. The rains affected Kibonwa village II in Rukiri Parish.

The rain also destroyed six houses.  

Some of the residents, who spoke to URN, say they have been left with nothing to eat and shelter.

Apollo Kanyarutookye, the chairperson LCI says the heavy rains that started at around 5 pm lasted for more than four hours.

He says that coffee plantations, banana plantations, business buildings and iron sheets were destroyed.

John Bosco Basiime, one of the affected residents and farmer says he has lost more than one acre of banana plantation and his Bakery was destroyed.

Dickson Niweariho, the affected resident says he has lost two acres of Banana plantation.

 Denis Singhahache, the Ntungamo LCV Chairperson, says a report is being compiled to ascertain the damage which will be given to relevant offices so that they offer support to the affected village.
