Robert Mugabe, the chairperson Kitagwenda district, who rushed to the area ordered the parish chiefs and extension workers to write reports that will be sent to the ministry of disaster and preparedness for assistance.
A heavy hail storm has hit Buhanda Sub County in Kitagwenda
District. The Saturday hailstorm destroyed Banana plantations, sweet potatoes, cassava, coffee and
other crops in the villages of Mitwe, Nyabugando
and Kanara in Nyabuhoko parish.
The rains that started at around 3:00 pm lasted for three
hours and among others destroyed 5 houses and five goats were killed.
Jane Kyomugasho, a widow and affected resident says she acquired a loan from a
women Association to a buy a piece of land and construct a house which was destroyed by the hailstorm.

Some of the affected residents say that they have lost everything raging from
crops to animals and houses.

directed parish chiefs and extension workers to compile a report that will be
sent to the ministry of disaster and preparedness for assistance.
