Health Centre Official Held for Theft of Solar Power System

Pamela Aguti, the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigation Department at Apac Central Police Station, says the arrest of Odur on Wednesday stemmed from complains from the local authorities accusing him of plunging the health center into darkness.
Bonny Odur, the Ayago Health Centre II in-Charge in Akokoro Sub County in Apac district is being held at Apac Central Police Station for alleged theft of the solar system belonging to the facility. 

Odur is accused of vandalising and stealing a solar panel, an inverter and two solar batteries from the health facility.

Pamela Aguti, the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigation Department at Apac Central Police Station, says the arrest of Odur on Wednesday stemmed from complains from the local authorities accusing him of plunging the health centre into darkness.

They reportedly told police that Odur decided to remove the solar system from the roof of the health facility and disappeared with it leaving the health centre and the entire staff quarters in darkness. The system was being used for lighting the health centre and the staff quarters.

He reportedly took the system to light his pub at Ayago trading centre. During his arrest, Police also recovered the solar kits from the pub. Odur is being held for theft and abuse of office under CRB463/2017.
