The Health Ministry is to embark on an integrated door to door testing campaign for testing for HIV, Malaria and Hepatitis B across the country.
Health minister Elioda Tumwesigye says the program that will target Ugandans of 14 years and above is expected to cost Shillings 450 billion about US $ 150 Million.
According to the Minister, government plans to spend US $ 10 on each individual during the campaign. He says that money will cover costs of personnel, counseling, cost of tests and cost of logistics involved.
Tumwesigye disclosed this while appearing before the Health Committee of parliament along his junior minister Chris Baryomunsi to present highlights of the Health Ministerial Policy statement for the 2015/2016 financial year.
He explained that, the ministry expects to mobilize resources from government, corporate, development partners and individuals to roll out the problem in the next financial year.

According to the ministerial policy statement, the HIV prevalence in the country stands at 7.3%. The document also shows that new infection declined from 147,000 in 2011 to 137,000 in 2013.
